2012 Teacher's capacity building workshop proudly supported by Honey Badger Lodge
It gives us great pleasure to once again support the Annual Moshi Rural Teacher Capacity Building Workshop.
Capacity Building implies that we build from one positive experience to the next. The first workshop held in January 2011 brought together 30 Tanzanian and 6 international teachers to share ideas of modern teaching methods. One of the goals of the workshop was for the Tanzanian participants to continue to apply these methods in their schools with their students and to share modern teaching practices with their colleagues.
Last year’s workshop was so successful that four of the Tanzanian participants have returned to be co-presenters. These teachers have adopted many of the ideas that were developed last year and they are regularly using them in their own teaching for the benefit of their students. The workshop is also co-facilitated by 5 international volunteers.
It is our hope that this second workshop will surpass the first in further exchange of workable pedagogical practices. Like the workshop organisers and facilitators we also believe that this participatory student-centred workshop will support the vision statement of the United Republic of Tanzania Ministry of Education and Culture:
To have a Tanzanian who is well-educated, knowledgeable, skilled and culturally mature to handle national and international challenges in various political and social-economic fields by 2025.
We will continue to post thoughts and progress throughout the week...
