Putting education first
This month we made it possible for nine students to sit their national Form II examinations. These exams are crucial in the students’ endeavour to complete their education. The students attend Second Chance Education Centre, a community initiative that we actively support. Many of the students at the school are orphans or vulnerable children who, if it were not for the school, would be unable to further their education. We wish Emmanual, Hance, Reuben, Eden, Samuel, Glory, Eva and Lucy all the best for their results. Finally we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supports Honey Badger. By coming to stay, going on safari, climbing the mountain etc. with us you are helping us to help others. See our giving back page for more information http://www.honeybadgerlodge.com/giving-back.aspx.
Here is a short excerpt from the school…
“We are now approaching the middle of November and schools will soon be closing all of Tanzania. Second Chance Education centre will be finishing another successful school year in the next week. This time of year means that students everywhere will be writing their national examinations or annual school examinations. SCEC is no different. Our form II (10th Grade class) just completed their national examinations at Kibo secondary school in Moshi town. We had nine students sitting this year. We expect to have very good results as our students prepare for form III beginning in January 2011. The staff and students at Second Chance Education Centre are most grateful for the generous support from Honey Badger Lodge and Safaris whose financial contribution helped pay for the transport to and from Shanti town where Kibo Secondary school is located each day during the examination period. Thank you to Honey Badger for assisting our students in their pursuit of academic success”.
