Happy New Year From Honey Badger
We hope you are all well and saw 2010 out in style, we would like to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous 2011. We would like to take this moment to look back on 2010. As many of you know this year has been a busy one for us, we have (in chronological order) packed up our lives in Mwanza, moved all our belongings, including two big dogs, across the Serengeti to set up home in Moshi. We took over Honey Badger Lodge, recruited and trained a team of people, started a tour company (for mountain climbing and safaris to all Tanzania’s national parks), got stuck into our renovations (solar installation, room and restaurant overhauls, added a new bar and outside lounge areas, dug a swimming pool and landscaped the area around it), purchased a rice paddy, sewing machines and tie and dye materiasl to support some of our community initiatives (see our Giving back initiatives (http://www.honeybadgerlodge.com/giving-back.aspx), welcomed SAIDIA volunteers with our volunteer programme (www.saidiavolunteer.org) had a gorgeous baby boy, and maybe even completed a Phd! So what next!!!
Looking to 2011 our biggest focus is to spread the word and welcome many more people to Tanzania and to Honey Badger Lodge in particular. This is where you come in, in our minds the strongest form of marketing is by word of mouth. Therefore we continue to ask for you help, tell your friends, family, colleagues and even complete strangers about us. We know it sounds cheesy but it is true, the more successful we can make this business the more useful we can be to our surrounding community. Joey and I are committed to making Honey Badger a fantastic holiday destination where guests don’t just visit Tanzania, they really ‘experience it’. And more importantly we are driven to make it a development centre; an initiative that supports and builds the capacity and improves the lives of those who are touched by it.
We would like to wish you all the best for the New Year and we look forward to hearing from you or even better hosting you in the not too distant future.
All the best
Joseph and Jenny
